Cécile Guth is a French painter born in 1967.
She lives and works in Boulogne-Billancourt.
Trained in adult drawing classes at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris by James Bloede and Hubert de Chalvron, then in painting by Philippe Lejeune at the Atelier de la Vigne d'Etampes, she worked a lot on nudes and portraits.
After leaving Monsieur Lejeune, she moved away from human representation for a while to have fun with the technique.
She started to prepare her own frames and through the play of washes, she began to create very free and colorful landscapes.
After a few years spent in Paris where she passed on her passion to young students, she had the opportunity to go on a residency in China in the Hubei Province where she spent time in the Wudang Mountains.
A well-known pilgrimage site for the Chinese, the Wudang Shan Mountains are a superb collection of palaces, monasteries and temples. It was there that she began work on the theme of Tai Chi.
Her works have mainly remained there in the museum that was inaugurated at the end of this Residency.
Her travels then took her to Colombia where her daughter lives and the discovery of the tropical forest was an aesthetic shock that made her want to see our world through particular colors and lights. The light that filters through this lush vegetation, the so preserved universe of this primary forest touched her and she produced several paintings on this theme in 2023 and 2024
